Meet Lisa Franks
I prioritize creating a safe, supportive, and compassionate space. I want you to feel empowered to explore your emotions and experiences. If traditional talk therapy has not worked for you, using Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) might help.
Let’s begin your Journey to Wellness.
Who I am
As a therapist and a mother, I understand firsthand the overwhelming pressures that many women face, especially when juggling multiple roles. I’ve navigated the complexities of raising children through challenging times, including the demands of parenting in a blended family and supporting a partner through life transitions. My own experience of healing, from both in childhood and adult trauma, has equipped me with deep empathy, compassion, and a rich understanding of what it means to be vulnerable. It has also strengthened my connection to the therapeutic process, and I am committed to helping women, particularly mothers and professionals, find relief from overwhelm, anxiety, and the patterns that no longer serve them. My goal is to support you in rediscovering balance, confidence, and a renewed sense of wellbeing.
Clients & Issues I Treat
-
Mothers
Mothers often face mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, and burnout, as they balance the demands of parenting, career, and personal life. The pressures of caregiving and societal expectations can impact emotional well-being, self-care, and personal relationships.
-
Professionals
Professionals frequently encounter stress, anxiety, and burnout due to workplace demands, deadlines, and the pressure to perform. These mental health challenges can affect their productivity, emotional resilience, and work-life balance, often leading to feelings of overwhelm and dissatisfaction.
-
Women's Issues
Women’s issues in therapy can include gender roles, body image, reproductive health, and the pressures of balancing multiple life roles. Addressing these challenges in a supportive space can foster greater self-awareness, emotional empowerment, and healthier relationships.
-
Young Adults
Therapy for people who are 25-35 can be geared toward navigating life transitions and/or building coping strategies for stress. The focus is on relationships, fostering insight about one's past, improving one's emotional resilience, and skills for managing life.
-
Trauma
ART therapy for trauma involves processing distressing memories without requiring clients to provide detailed, verbal accounts, allowing for rapid resolution through visualization and eye movements.
-
Anxiety & Phobias
I offer a safe space to explore your fears while encouraging the development of coping strategies. You can challenge distressing thoughts here. Through ART you'll gain greater control over your responses, which will improve your quality of life.
-
Depression
Using ART to address depression can lead to improved mood, enhanced daily functioning, and a brighter outlook on life. Individuals often experience better relationships and increased motivation to pursue their personal goals.
-
Life Transitions
Therapy provides support and guidance during times of change, helping individuals navigate their feelings and uncertainties. It fosters self-discovery and resilience, empowering people to embrace new beginnings with confidence.

My Approaches to Treatment:
I integrate strategies from the following modalities:
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)
ART is a transformative therapeutic approach designed to help individuals process and resolve distressing memories and emotions quickly and effectively. ART uses a combination of guided imagery, bilateral stimulation, and cognitive restructuring to help clients reframe and integrate traumatic experiences. This innovative therapy is particularly effective in treating various types of trauma and conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, and depression. By facilitating rapid emotional and cognitive shifts, ART allows individuals to achieve lasting relief and improved mental well-being, often in just a few sessions.
I am Master Certified in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) by the International Society of Accelerated Resolution Therapy. See my profile here.
Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)
ACT is a mindfulness-based therapeutic approach that focuses on helping individuals embrace their thoughts and feelings rather than struggling against them. Through ACT, clients learn to accept their internal experiences, identify their core values, and commit to actions that align with those values. This therapy is particularly effective in treating a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, stress, and chronic pain. By fostering psychological flexibility, ACT empowers individuals to live more meaningful and fulfilling lives despite the challenges they face.
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
DBT is a structured, skills-based approach designed to help individuals manage intense emotions and improve interpersonal effectiveness. While DBT is typically delivered by trained DBT therapists through a comprehensive program, its core components—such as mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness—can be integrated into therapy in a flexible manner. By incorporating these skills into sessions, I support clients in developing greater emotional resilience, enhancing their ability to cope with stress, and improving their relationships. While I do not offer structured DBT treatment, I incorporate key DBT techniques into our sessions to help you manage challenges like trauma, anxiety, and depressive symptoms in a flexible and supportive manner.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT is a practical, goal-oriented approach that helps individuals understand and change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors. Through the use of CBT techniques, individuals develop new, healthier ways to respond to situations, and gain better control over thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. While I incorporate CBT strategies into our sessions, such as problem-solving and cognitive restructuring, I do not follow a rigid CBT protocol. This adaptable approach allows us to tailor the techniques to your unique needs, effectively addressing issues like anxiety, depression, and stress while helping you build practical skills for lasting change.
Accelerated Resolution
Therapy for Trauma
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is an evidenced based, short-term psychotherapy that helps individuals process traumatic memories and reduce the distress they cause. By using bilateral eye movements and other techniques, like visualization, ART reprograms the brain to store these memories in a way that no longer triggers intense emotional reactions. Many people may not realize that anxiety and depression can often be symptoms of unresolved trauma.
